Hi, thanks so much for your reply.

I have tried burping him for ages and wind comes up, but even if he does really big burps it doesnt seem to make any difference. I tried feeding him upright, but again it didnt seem to make any difference. The paediatrician put him on some special milk, but it didnt make any difference, he's been on it for over 2 months now. I went back to the paediatrician and she has now put him on stuff for reflux (he's not sick so she suspects silent reflux). He's been on this for a week now and it hasnt helped at all.

I have always said I believe he has pains in his stomach/bowels, Iim sure this is where the problem lies, but the paediatrician completely dismisses the idea every time I speak to her saying that he isnt bleeding and he isnt being sick or loosing weight so it cant be problems with his bowels. I'm just so exasperated that she doesnt believe me. I dont know whether it is because to look at his bowels is an invasive procedure and a last resort, especially if there is no physical evidence of it.

Ive only spoken to this one paediatrician, I think she thinks it's just colic and is trying to string it out until he grows out of it, so keeps palming me off with different things that I have to try out for a month at a time.

I'm just completely at a loss and nobody is interested because he seems perfectly healthy on the outside, but you only need to spend a day/night with him to see he has problems with his tummy. The paediatrician said that we can spend a night in hospital with him so that a professional can observe him, but she said that there isnt enough staff to constantly watch him, which makes me think what's the point! By the time i've woken up, pressed a bell for someone to come and watch him, his pain episode may be over, or they catch the tail end of it - just the crying part and think "well all babies cry, he's just crying". I dont seem to have anywhere to turn, hence this post.

I understand what you're saying with the starting to get pushy part, i'm quite a mild person and find this difficult to do and when the doctor keeps coming up with things to try I feel I need to try it to show that that is not the problem and to show that I am willing to try anything.

Thanks again for your post, I really appreciate it.

    Cara
    xx
